Introduction
Pure nickel materials such as Ni200 and Ni201 are widely used in high-temperature and harsh environment applications, thanks to their excellent thermal stability, corrosion resistance, and reliable electrical performance.
In this case study, we introduce a custom Ni201 wire forming component designed for high-temperature equipment applications.

Project Background
The customer required a custom Ni201 wire formed part used inside a high-temperature operating equipment system.
The component needed to maintain:
- Dimensional stability under heat exposure
- Reliable electrical performance
- Mechanical integrity after thermal cycling
- Consistent performance in long-term operation
Due to these requirements, material selection and forming process control were critical.
Why Ni201 for High-Temperature Application?
We selected Ni201 (low-carbon pure nickel) in annealed condition for this application because:
- Excellent resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures
- Stable mechanical properties under thermal stress
- Better performance than Ni200 in high-temperature environments
- Reliable conductivity in continuous operation conditions
- Good formability for complex wire structures
Manufacturing Process
The component was produced using precision wire forming techniques:
- CNC-controlled wire bending for repeat accuracy
- Annealed (soft) Ni201 wire for improved formability
- Custom tooling for high-precision geometry
- Full dimensional inspection during prototype stage
- Engineering adjustments based on thermal and assembly feedback
Engineering Optimization for High-Temperature Use
During prototype validation, we optimized:
- Structural stability under thermal expansion
- Bend geometry to avoid stress concentration
- Dimensional tolerance under working conditions
- Long-term reliability in high-temperature environments
These improvements ensured stable performance during real application testing.
Final Result
After optimization, the final Ni201 wire formed parts:
- Performed reliably in high-temperature equipment environment
- Maintained dimensional stability under thermal conditions
- Passed functional and application testing
- Achieved consistent repeatability for production
